Almost one-third of May, from 22 to 31, the Southern region (Simferopol, Kherson, Nikolaev) hosted a training organized by “My Home” foundation. More than 150 people – parents, social workers, believers and non-believers, ministers and concerned individuals were able to acquire new knowledge on the topic “Working with children, taking into account the impact of trauma: how to create an environment that heals”. Ruby and Lynn Johnston, speakers of the International Center for Leadership and Development, shared their experience and knowledge, we can say traditionally.

The training was held in a friendly atmosphere. Various topics were discussed, such as psychological and sexual trauma of children, reactions to trauma and how to discover the cause of trauma. Practical advices on raising children with certain injuries to the soul in our foster families were given. The participants asked many questions and received comprehensive answers.

During the breaks between sessions people were getting to know each other, exchanging contact information and making friendships. This training served to unite many foster parents, caretakers, parents and educators. Some of the problems and difficulties were resolved. Many parents had the opportunity to see that they are not alone and there are people who deal with similar issues and can share their experience.

The training was effective and helpful to everyone, as evidenced by the feedback from the participants:

“The new thing that I discovered at the seminar is that mental and physical injuries experienced at an early age affect the child’s brain development and communicative relationship between parts of the brain. It turns out that children simply can not always distinguish the good from the bad and master their emotions.
