International Volunteer Day was founded in 1985 by the UN General Assembly. In Ukraine the volunteer day was officially recognized ten years ago. This is the only day in the year when awards are given not for scientific achievement or demonstrated courage but for caring hearts.

That’s why on December 5, in the lobby of Concert Hall “Yubileyny”, Kherson regional state administration brought together volunteers who help Kherson region in various fields. As noted Valentina Sich, first deputy of the chairman of Kherson Regional State Administration: “Volunteers are people for whom there is no other people’s troubles. This is not a profession, it’s a state of mind”.

The list of volunteers who were awarded with certificates of honor included the psychologist of “My Home” Orphans’ Ministry Nadezhda Kim. She was awarded for significant contribution to the establishment and functioning of foster families and family-type homes and prevention of child abandonment. After all, the main goal of the Ministry is happy children in a happy family!
